Falguni Nayar pips Kiran Mazumdar, Rekha Jhunjhunwala to become richest Indian woman

New Delhi: ‘s founder Falguni Nayar has pipped Kiran Mazumdar to become the richest self-made Indian, according to IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022 released on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old Nayar raced passed

‘s Shaw (68) after the successful listing of FSN E-Commerce Ventures, the parent company of omnichannel Nykaa.

Nayar is also the richest female in the country, followed by Rekha Jhunjhunwala of Rare Enterprises, the company incorporated by her husband and late veteran investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.

Falguni Nayar & family’s wealth rose Rs 30,000 crore during the year and her cumulative wealth increased 345 per cent and stood around Rs 38,700 crore, data suggested.

Among the top 10 gainers in terms of wealth addition, Nayar stood at the fifth spot and was the only female on the list. She followed the likes of Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani and Cyrus S Poonawalla.

Nayar, meanwhile, stood second in terms of Indians who saw the biggest percentage rise (up 345 per cent) in their wealth, trailing Ravi Modi of

(Manyavar), whose wealth rose 376 per cent.

Nayar and Modi entered the top-100 names in IIFL Wealth Hurun Rich 2022 after their companies debuted on Dalal Street and unclocked value for them.
