Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a state-owned oil company, announced that Dr. Nagaraja Bhalki has ceased to be an Independent Director of the company effective December 30, 2024. The change comes after the completion of his tenure on December 29, 2024.

The announcement was made in a regulatory filing to the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) on December 30. HPCL, headquartered in Mumbai, is one of India’s leading public sector oil marketing companies. The company, which operates under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, plays a crucial role in India’s petroleum sector.

The departure of Dr. Bhalki marks a change in the company’s board composition, though the filing did not provide information about a potential successor to the Independent Director position.
